Did you know? Safflower is a herbaceous plant that can reach up to 1.5 metres in height. Its green, toothed leaves grow alternately along the stem, measuring up to 15 centimetres long, except near the top, where they appear smaller and cluster around the flower. The flowers form in groups of thistle-like blooms and are typically red, orange, or yellow, though some cultivated varieties may produce white flowers. When pollinated, each flower bud yields approximately 30 small white seeds.
