Features: Batana (Ojon) Virgin Oil is extracted from the fruit of the American Oil Palm, traditionally used by the Miskito people of Honduras. Rich and dense, this golden-brown oil supports dry and brittle hair, making it appear glossier and smoother. On skin, it delivers a nourishing, occlusive layer that helps condition and soften.
Properties/Benefits: Batana Virgin Oil is rich in natural fatty acids, making it an excellent ingredient for skin and hair formulations. Its unique composition includes oleic acid, known for its moisturising properties and ability to restore softness to both hair and skin; palmitic acid, which helps create a protective barrier to support moisture retention; and linoleic acid, which promotes a smoother skin texture and contributes to balanced skin conditioning.

Batana oil is sometimes referred to as the “miracle oil” by the Miskito people, known as the “Tawira” or “People of Beautiful Hair.” Its traditional production is a slow, manual process involving hand-harvesting and sun-drying of the fruit, followed by roasting and pressing to extract the oil—preserving the knowledge and customs of generations.
Suggested Storage: Store below 20ºC in tightly sealed containers, away from direct sunlight. If solidified at room temperature, gently warm in a water bath to return the oil to a liquid state.
