Features: Thyme Thujanol Essential Oil Certified Organic is produced in Provence, France, from a relatively rare chemotype of Thymus vulgaris. Unlike the thymol chemotype, which has a sharper and more intense character, Thyme Thujanol offers a softer aromatic profile. It is also less floral than Thyme Linalool, providing a clean herbal scent for skincare, haircare, personal care, diffuser and fragrance formulations. It is particularly suited to facial cleansers, body care products, shampoos, conditioners, scalp-care products and aromatic blends where a softer thyme character is preferred.

Properties/Benefits: Thyme Thujanol Essential Oil provides the recognisable herbal character of thyme in a softer aromatic form than the thymol chemotype. Its key cosmetic and aromatic benefits include:

  • Fresh Herbal Aroma: Adds a clean, fresh and herbaceous scent to skincare, haircare and personal care formulations.
  • Skincare Applications: Suitable for facial cleansers, toners and other skincare formulations.
  • Hair and Scalp Care: Adds a fresh botanical aroma to shampoos, conditioners, hair masks and scalp-care products.
  • Aromatic Blending: Works well in diffuser and fragrance blends, particularly alongside citrus, floral, herbal and woody aromas.

Did you know? One proposed origin of the name “thyme” is the Greek word meaning “to fumigate”. Ancient Greeks burned thyme as incense in their temples, and its aroma became so highly regarded that describing someone as “smelling of thyme” was considered a compliment. The herb later became closely associated with Provence, where it remains an important part of the region’s landscape and culinary traditions.

Suggested Storage: Store below 30°C in a sealed container, away from direct sunlight.

Supplier Information: Located in Provence in southern France, our producer is a family-run farm with a history spanning several generations and a strong connection to the local landscape. The farm was acquired by the current owner’s grandfather in the 1950s and was originally dedicated to rice cultivation before the next generation introduced fruit and vegetable production. After taking over the property, the current owner transformed the farm to focus on certified organic aromatic plants, restructuring the land, renewing equipment and adapting cultivation practices to meet organic agricultural requirements. Today, selected plots are dedicated to emblematic Provencal plants, including lavender, lavandin, rosemary, tarragon and thyme. The farm combines its long-standing agricultural heritage with specialised knowledge of organic aromatic plant cultivation and a deep respect for the Provencal terroir.
