After a disturbance, such as fire or physical damage, Eucalyptus radiata can sprout new growth from its lignotuber—a large woody swelling of the root crown. This adaptation not only enables the tree to survive in the harsh and fire-prone Australian environment but also allows it to regenerate quickly after being cut down or burned.
