Ingredients: Folic Acid
Background Information: Also known as Vitamin B9 Folic Acid is a water-soluble B vitamin that is essential for healthy cell reproduction and is one of the latest breakthroughs in skincare. Applied topically, Folic Acid contributes to healthy skin cell division and repair. It also aids in replenishing skin cells for younger, firmer looking skin.
Material Origin: Synthetic.
Solubility: Soluble in hot water.
Stability: Good heat stability but can react with acids, alkali and light so best kept in protective packaging and formulated in products with a pH towards skin neutral (5.5-7).
Use Levels: 0.1-0.2% as supplied.
Applications: Use as an active ingredient in cosmetics. Do not use in products for people with psoriasis or who tend to over-grow skin cells as this ingredient might exacerbate conditions by stimulating cellular growth.
Activity:
Rejuvinating: Folic acid is utilised by the skin in protein production so it can be great at skin repair.
Acne/ Blemishes: Low levels of folic acid in the skin can produce an inflammatory response so normalising folic acid can be a helpful way to manage that and reduce the potential for skin damage.
