Product Description
Ingredients: Bakuchiol
Bakuchiol is a plant-derived active with collagen stimulating, skin brightening, anti-oxidant and anti-microbial properties. It is widely touted as a plant-based alternative to Retinol.
Origin: Occurs naturally in the Babchi (Psoralea Corylifolia) or Otholobium plants which are flowering plants in the legume family (Fabaceae).
Process: Psoralea Corylifolia seeds are pulverised before extracting them with ethanol, the resulting extract is filtered and purified using physical methods that isolate the Bakuchiol out so it can be concentrated.
Appearance: Yellow to brown viscous liquid.
Smell: Characteristic
Solubility: Soluble in alcohol, miscible with some oily emollients.
pH Stability: Good, no pH contra-indications.
General Stability: Best to add during cool-down as unstable to heat. Stable to UV and hydrolysis.
Use Instructions: Add to emulsion after cool-down with appropriate mixing.
Typical Use Level: 0.1-1%
Examples of Applications:
- Anti-ageing product for wrinkle reduction, skin brightening and general skin regeneration.
- Antioxidant rich skin products such as those for environmental protection.
- Products that target problem skin, pimples and marks.
- Anti-microbial skin preparations including foot creams, after-shaves and sports balms.
