Did you know? Like many eucalypts, this species has developed a remarkable ability to recover from damage through a process known as "coppicing." After a disturbance, such as fire or physical damage, Eucalyptus radiata can sprout new growth from its lignotuber — a large woody swelling at the root crown. This adaptation not only enables the tree to survive in the harsh and fire-prone Australian environment but also allows it to regenerate quickly after being cut down or burned.
