With its rich antioxidant properties, Ximenia oil helps protect the hair from environmental damage, while promoting a healthy scalp and strengthening the hair shafts. Say goodbye to dull and lifeless hair and hello to luscious, glossy locks.
Properties/Benefits: Ximenia oil contains Ximenynic acid, a powerful anti-inflammatory fatty acid and one that's also found in Sandalwood fruit oil. Chemically this oil is more of a liquid wax than a vegetable oil in as much as its fatty acid chains are very long. Because of this the oil has a slightly stringy, long-flow rheology that is great for giving long-lasting barrier protection with a rich, cushioned after-feel. Also, Ximenia oil is rich in beneficial compounds including oleic acid for moisturisation and tocopherols for antioxidant protection.
Fatty acid profile:
Appearance: Cloudy, yellow semi viscous liquid
Texture: Ximenia oil has a lightweight texture that is easily absorbed by the skin and hair. It is typically non-greasy and leaves little to no residue, allowing it to be easily applied and absorbed without leaving a heavy or greasy feeling.
Common Uses:
Recommended Dosage: Any - can be used neat on skin or as a speciality oil in a leave-on or rinse-off blend.
Did you know? The oil yield from the Ximenia seeds is between 38-52% and free fatty acid levels are low at less than 1%.
