This non-ionic thickener and emulsion stabiliser is a great addtion to your cream, lotion or balm as it helps to improve overall stability while thickening the product.
Use level: 0.1-3%
In water, this thickener reaches a maximum viscosity of 4500-6000 mPas at 1% Concentration and 80-120,000 mPas at 2% concentration.
Being non-ionic this thickener can tolerate a wide range of additives without losing viscosity.
Add to the water phase and heat while mixing to speed up hydration. It is possible to form a paste with glycerin before adding to water to help prevent agglomeration. Hydroxyethyl Cellulose has good pH stability and can be used in formulations with pH between 2-10. The cellulose thickener may break down when exposed to 10% solutions of bicarbonate.
Use for: Serum bases, gels, creams and even thickening shampoos and surfactant based products.
