Product Description
Ingredients: Epilobium Angustifolium Flower/Leaf/Stem Extract
Canadian Willowherb is also known as Rose Bay Willowherb (England) and Fireweed (North America). This plant has a long history of use in herbal medicine and natural skincare due to its anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and anti-microbial properties. The plant contains a diverse range of polyphenols, in particular hydrolysable tannins (ellagitannins) which have been investigated for their collagen boosting and skin rejuvenation properties.
Note: While this extract does contains small amounts of Salicylin (natural salicylic acid precursor), if you are looking for higher levels, then the White Willowherb is a better fit.
Solubility: This extract has a high degree of water solubility as supplied but it will produce a cloudy-ish brown solution indicative of the fact that the extract won’t fully solubilise. We recommend, in most situations, to prepare your herb into demineralised water and then filter out any residue before adding it to your product. For customers looking for a colourless extraction we recommend the White Willow Bark rather than the Canadian Willowherb.
Use Amount: This herb is 10 times more potent than fresh Willow herb so to create a single strength liquid extract you would add 10g of herb to 90g of water and then filter it.
Typical Dose: 1-10% of a 1:1 liquid extract.
Heat Stability: Relatively high.
