INCI: Hydrated Silica
Precipitated Silica is a multipurpose addition to many cosmetic applications; often used to increase the viscosity of W/O emulsions or as a mattifying agent in colour cosmetics. When used in foundations, silica can help to absorb oils and sweat from the skin, helping makeup to last longer and to reduce light reflection. Silica can also improve the smoothness and spreading of foundations and creams. When used in dry shampoo, silica helps to absorb excess oils and reduce shine.
