Ingredients: Terminalia Ferdinandiana Fruit Extract
Kakadu Plum, also known as billygoat plum or gubinge from the people of the Nyul Nyul Nation (Kimberly region), is probably one of the best known 'bush tucker' skincare ingredients. Famed for its high concentration of vitamin C this extract is a great way to help your skin maintain a fresh, youthful glow whatever the weather. The vitamin C in Kakadu Plum is stabilised by the fruits complex sugars meaning it lasts longer and stays fresher than most other Vitamin C enriched fruits (such as Kiwi).
Use Level: 0.1-1% as supplied but typically 1-10% as a pre-hydrated solution made by taking 10g of the powder and hydrating it with 90g of water, this produces a re-constituted single, strength juice. The juice is typically filtered before adding it to your cosmetic product to avoid creating micro issues.
pH of a solution: approx. 3.5
Function: Kakadu Plum powder contains a high percentage of vitamin C, a powerful antioxidant that works on the skin to protect it from environmental pollutants. Vitamin C also boosts collagen production and improves the condition of the skin.
Note: Kakadu Plum Powder is a good way to achieve a high dose of kakadu plum in your final product but it can be slightly tricky to mix in so we do recommend trying the Kakadu Plum Liquid Extract for people looking for an easier way to incorporate this ingredient.
On mixing with water this Kakadu Plum Powder forms a viscous paste-like fluid with a yellowish tinge. As the powder doesn't fully dissolve (some portion of it swells) it may be appropriate to filter the resulting paste before adding it to a cream to avoid lumps. Another option would be to try to homogenise it into a fine gel so as to better disperse it through whatever product you wish to put it into.
